A Delta Air Lines pilot preparing to land at New York’s LaGuardia Airport was warned to use “extreme caution” after an anonymous caller falsely reported a possible rocket launcher nearby. The scare unfolded as Delta Flight 2604, arriving from Detroit with more than 100 people on board, was on approach to LaGuardia. Air traffic controllers issued a MANPAD alert at 8:27 p.m. “MANPAD alert issued at LaGuardia Airport at 0027. Use extreme caution,” a controller said in audio obtained by CBS News. The pilot, apparently startled by the warning, asked what a MANPAD was. The tower responded that it stood for “a manned portable air defense system.” “Basically, it was a report of a rocket launcher,” the controller added. Within about a minute, controllers called off the alert after Port Authority police determined the report was a hoax. “No need to respond, Delta 2604,” the controller told the pilot. “Port Authority police reported it was a non-credible threat.” The flight landed safely without incident.

Scientists have documented a bizarre new behavior in killer whales that left researchers astonished: body-slamming giant prey so hard it explodes into thousands of pieces. The newly described “ram-to-fragment” behavior was captured off Mexico in 2024 and detailed in the journal Frontiers in Ethology. After a pod killed a massive sharp-tail sunfish, an adult female held the carcass in place while an adult male slammed into it at high speed, instantly shattering it. “It was like an explosion,” lead researcher Kathryn Ayres told ABC News, adding that she’d never seen such behavior from an orca before. A juvenile orca was then seen feeding on the smaller fragments, leading scientists to believe the behavior may help younger whales eat more easily. But Ayres said it could also simply be play. “Orcas are well-known for engaging in play with prey,” she told CNN, adding that the whales had already eaten the fish’s most nutritious organs, suggesting the dramatic impact “could have just been for fun.”

JD Vance has suspended a Secret Service agent suspected of leaking his diva demands to the press, according to reports.

A damning report by MS NOW earlier this month revealed that Vance’s security detail was “fed up” with his erratic travel plans, which require agents to drop everything to accompany the vice president’s family, as well as “inappropriate” use of taxpayer-funded protection.

In one example that rankled staff, Vance demanded that a Secret Service detail accompany his young son on a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter so he could attend a golf lesson, a trip that was ultimately canceled due to bad weather.

Senior officials have been deserting Donald Trump’s second presidential administration at a record rate far exceeding the turnover during his first term in office, new figures show.

The exodus has seen 27 Senate-confirmed officials leave their positions in the last 18 months, up from 11 over the same period in his first term—a 145 percent increase, according to an analysis from the Partnership for Public Service, reported by The Hill.

The figures show the number of officials leaving their jobs during Trump 2.0 is six times higher than the average number during the first 18 months under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

Adolf Hitler’s birthplace is now a police station, Austria’s interior ministry announced on Wednesday, in what is an attempt to deter Nazi sympathizers from paying homage to the dictator. The 17th-century building in the small town of Braunau am Inn, near the German border, had undergone a three-year renovation process, in part to remove any lingering Nazi influence. “The future use of the house by the police should send an unmistakable signal that the role of this building as a memorial to the Nazis has been permanently revoked,” Wolfgang Peschorn, Austria’s interior minister, said in a statement. Over the years, the building had been a museum, a school, and a library, and visitors would gather on Hitler’s birthday, according to The New York Times. After a descendant of its owners refused to sell, the Austrian government acquired the property through expropriation in 2017. Two years later, plans were announced to house the police there. During the remodeling process, according to Der Standard, rubble from the site was taken to a secret location for disposal, so that neo-Nazis couldn’t use it. A commemorative stone, placed outside the building in the 1980s, remains. It reads, “For freedom, democracy and liberty. Never again fascism. Millions of dead remind us.”

A Republican state legislator has been charged with enticing a minor after police say he had explicit conversations with a child that began on Roblox. Elliot Pritt, a member of West Virginia’s House of Delegates who is also a teacher, was arrested Wednesday and faces a federal count of enticement of a minor, according to a criminal complaint. The complaint alleges that Pritt, 36, started communicating with a student on Roblox while she was in eighth grade, which later transitioned to them talking on Snapchat. The student’s family reported that Pritt shared nude images of himself, requested sexually explicit photos, and sexually abused their loved one on multiple occasions on school grounds, according to the complaint. The state’s House Speaker, Roger Hanshaw, called for Pritt to resign immediately. “What Elliot Pritt is accused of doing is shocking, disgusting, and disappointing in every way,” Hanshaw, who is also a Republican, said in a statement. “I urge Elliott Pritt, for the benefit of his family and the people of his District, to spare his students and his colleagues at every level the continued embarrassments and distractions and to resign from elected office as soon as he is able.”

Godzilla actress Kaylee Hottle’s cause of death was severe blunt force injuries, according to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The 18-year-old star was in a fatal car crash Tuesday after the Honda Accord she was a passenger in veered off the road and crashed into a ditch. A Republican lawmaker who was exposed for secretly owning a helicopter has also spent thousands on a private jet rental—all while campaigning as a Pennsylvania everyman.

Rep. Rob Bresnahan, 36, spent more than $23,000 on a private charter flight in May, documents reviewed by the Daily Beast revealed. He flew private again in June and July, this time aboard the million-dollar chopper he purchased in 2024.

Campaign finance disclosures filed by Bresnahan on July 15 showed that he paid $23,369.98 to Jettly, a private jet rental company, on May 29. The disbursement was billed as a “travel expense.”

An airport executive believed to have insider knowledge about the assassination of Vladimir Putin’s friend-turned-foe Yevgeny Prigozhin has been found dead.

Alexey Korshenko, who headed the business aviation terminal at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport that fielded Prigozhin’s final flight, oversaw the terminal where the notorious mercenary boss took off before his fiery 2023 crash, which came two months after he staged an armed uprising against the Russian leader.

Korshenko, 57, was found hanged on the balcony of his home in Moscow on June 6, but his identity was only revealed this week, The Moscow Times reports.

A Miami Beach Republican is facing calls to resign after he was found liable for sexually harassing two of his male staffers.

Calls for State Rep. Fabián Basabe, 48, to bow out of office come in addition to his being ordered to pay his former aides—a legislative assistant and an intern—a combined $450,000 in damages.

“Rep. Basabe’s behavior is disgusting, and I am disturbed that the Republican leadership in the House engaged in a cover-up to shield Rep. Basabe from the consequences of his actions,” said the chair of the Florida Democratic Party, Nikki Fried, in a statement. “Rep. Basabe has no business holding public office for another day; he must resign immediately.”

Craig Nelson was only steps from the summit when a hike he had completed many times before turned deadly. The 59-year-old was climbing Utah’s American Fork Twin Peaks with his brother on Saturday when they noticed storm clouds rolling into the area and stopped for lunch to monitor the weather. Seeing no lightning, they decided to continue. As the weather worsened near the top, the brothers agreed it was time to head back down. Nelson’s brother reached the east peak first while Nelson continued toward the summit, where authorities say he collapsed after being struck by lightning. His brother, who was about 20 feet away, rushed to call 911, but rescue crews had to wait for the storm to pass before a helicopter could safely reach the mountain. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing while officials await autopsy results. Sheriff Rosie Rivera urged hikers to check the forecast before heading out and to be prepared to change plans if storms move into the area.

A Christian military chaplain says chaplains are being evaluated for promotions based on whether or not they align with the secretary of defense’s hardline Christian ideologies.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, a nonprofit that advocates for service members’ constitutional right to religious freedom, announced Tuesday that it had received several complaints from active-duty personnel who fear repercussions for not aligning with Pete Hegseth’s religious views.

The chaplain, whose name was withheld for fear of repercussions, raised concerns about changes being made to the Department of Defense’s “Spiritual Fitness” initiative.

Mexico’s health minister has pushed back against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s finding that the lettuce consumed by people who fell ill was sourced in central Mexico.

Last week, the FDA said its traceback investigation identified Taylor Farms de Mexico as the sole supplier to the Taco Bell locations where sick people ate shredded iceberg lettuce before getting sick. The company shortly announced a voluntary recall of all iceberg lettuce sourced from Mexico from the U.S. market.

An Oregon teenager hit the jackpot when he thrifted a jacket worn by NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain for $3.07 and sold it at auction for just under $90,000. Quinn Brown told the Associated Press he spotted the bright yellow Lakers jacket after someone tossed it into a clothing bin at a Portland Goodwill in January. Brown, who sells used clothing online, researched the piece by comparing stitching details with photos of Chamberlain wearing what appeared to be a similar jacket. “I really just wanted to make sure, because it was so hard to believe at the time,” he said. After Brown posted the jacket on social media, Sotheby’s contacted him and dispatched an armored vehicle to collect it for auction. The jacket sold Monday for $89,600, below its original $150,000-$250,000 estimate. “I didn’t even think that finding something like this was possible,” Brown said. “I got very, very lucky.” Sotheby’s described the jacket as an “extraordinary piece of memorabilia” from Chamberlain’s final NBA season. An investigation that cleared the Gates Foundation of any wrongdoing in connection with its founder Bill Gates’ ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein did not include a vital source of relevant information.

The Seattle-based foundation started by Bill and ex-wife Melinda French Gates hired an outside law firm in March to “assess past foundation engagement with Epstein” after becoming mired in controversy following the release of the Epstein files.

Documents released by the Department of Justice included emails between Epstein and members of the Gates Foundation staff, along with photos of Bill Gates posing with the disgraced financier—who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges—and with women whose faces were redacted.

Melanie, 61, discovered a lump in her breast in July 2022 after a clear mammogram just five months earlier. “I woke up in the middle of the night, and my finger moved up right beneath my breast. I felt a little bump and thought, ‘It’s just a bug bite,’” she told People. Testing confirmed HER2-positive breast cancer that had spread to lymph nodes in her chest, leading to chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and 30 rounds of radiation.

Just as she neared the end of treatment, Shatner, 95, was diagnosed in June 2023 with stage 4 malignant melanoma that had spread to his lungs and brain. “They said, ‘You got cancer. If you came in later, you would have been dead.’ See? That’s my life,” William Shatner said. “I think the universe is taking care of me.”

A passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing following a 10-person brawl onboard. EasyJet flight EZY3352 was en route from the Spanish island of Tenerife to Liverpool, U.K., on Tuesday with 186 people onboard, when pandemonium erupted. Air Traffic Control in Britain confirmed to GB News that the plane had returned to its point of origin because the fight posed a threat to the safety of the flight. Cops were at Tenerife South airport to meet the plane when it landed. The 17-year-old Airbus A320 later completed its journey to England safely after a four-hour delay, according to FlightRadar24. “A group of about 10 passengers had started a fight on board, and the captain decided to return due to the danger it posed to the safety of the flight,” ATC told the network. EasyJet said the plane “returned to the airport and was met by police due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively.”“Our cabin and ground crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time,” a spokesperson added.

The Louvre Museum reopened its Apollo Gallery on Wednesday, nine months after thieves pulled off a daring heist of about $102 million worth of crown jewels. But visitors returning to the gallery will notice one major change: jewels are no longer on display. Instead, they will be exhibited elsewhere in the museum in a more secure location, Louvre director Christophe Leribault told Reuters. The Apollo Gallery, created under the young King Louis XIV, inspired the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. The decision followed an October robbery in which two men used a movers’ lift to reach a second-story window in broad daylight, smashed their way inside, cracked open display cases with angle grinders, and escaped on scooters driven by two accomplices. The raid lasted less than seven minutes. The stolen jewels remain missing, except a crown belonging to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, that was found damaged near the Paris museum and is undergoing restoration. Four people suspected of direct involvement have been charged and placed in custody. Culture Minister Catherine Pegard called the robbery a “trauma for the whole world” and vowed to ramp up security at museums nationwide.

Prosecutors struggled to pick their jaws up off the floor on a phone call with Greg Bovino that took place between the fatal shooting of two U.S. citizens in Minnesota.

“These people are wackos,” Bovino, 56, said of protesters in Minneapolis during the exchange. CNN reports that the call took place after the former Border Patrol chief’s agents had shot Renee Nicole Good, 37, dead in the street on January 7, and before they killed another protester, Alex Pretti, also 37, just weeks later on January 24.

The network notes that Good’s killing did not appear to have made Bovino more cautious about containing the violence that later also claimed Pretti’s life. “The s--t is getting ready to come,” he told prosecutors. “We’re not putting up with anything in this city. It’s coming. We’re not going to calm it down, we’re going to put it down.”

A Rhode Island fugitive who disappeared during his 2005 rape trial allegedly spent the next 21 years living under a false identity as a Los Angeles biotech executive before authorities finally caught up with him. Ronald Fischer, who prosecutors say fled while on trial for raping a woman aboard a yacht in 2003, was arrested last week after federal authorities intercepted his yacht off the coast of New Jersey. According to an SEC filing, West Los Angeles-based Immix Biopharma terminated the employment of Richard Graydon on July 17, shortly after Fischer’s arrest, saying the decision was unrelated to his work at the company. The revelation has prompted scrutiny of the firm’s hiring practices, while a law firm representing investors says it has opened an inquiry into whether the company or its leadership violated federal securities laws.

A great white shark was spotted swimming within a couple of feet of a group of children on the Southern California coast. Carlos Gauna, who films sharks under the name “The Malibu Artist,” said Monday he captured the encounter through his drone from more than a mile away. The children appeared completely unaware the roughly 10-foot shark was circling nearby and even waved at the drone overhead. “This shark has a tendency to get close to people, but on this day, it really made me nervous,” Gauna told Good Morning America. “My heart was pounding.” The footage shows the shark swimming directly toward one child before passing by and then making a second close approach. Gauna said the shark appears to have a propeller wound near its dorsal fin, an injury he believes could be affecting its behavior. “I’ve been around them a lot,” Gauna said. “They don’t normally come at you like that.” No one was injured.

A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump must hand over detailed financial information as part of his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC, despite his lawyer’s efforts to prevent the information from being revealed in court.

The president sued the publicly funded British broadcaster in December, claiming it had defamed him by “intentionally, maliciously, and deceptively” editing two parts of his Jan. 6, 2021, speech to make it seem as though he had encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol.

Norwegian rowing icon Olaf Tufte, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has died at the age of 50. Tufte’s family said he was found unconscious at the family’s farm and later died at a hospital in Oslo on Tuesday. The cause of death was not made public. Tufte was regarded as one of Norway’s greatest Olympians, winning back-to-back gold medals in the single sculls at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also captured silver in the double sculls at the 2000 Sydney Games and bronze in the same event at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He competed in every Summer Olympics from Atlanta in 1996 through to the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021, retiring at age 45. “Tufte brought immense joy through sport to us as a nation,” Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said in a statement, calling him “one of Norway’s greatest sporting heroes.” Away from rowing, Tufte coached Paralympic silver medalist Birgit Skarstein, ran his family’s farm, volunteered as a firefighter, and founded the clothing brand Tufte Wear. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The owner of a two Michelin-starred restaurant is facing jail time and a hefty fine over a dessert garnish. Prosecutors in South Korea have demanded a one-year jail term and a hefty fine worth $13,510 for the owner of the Seoul restaurant, which has not been named in court filings. They accuse the restaurant of using ants to garnish sorbet, claiming that around 49,000 of the insects had been imported from the U.S. and Thailand and eaten by paying customers over a four-year period. The owner did admit they had used ants, but claimed that over the 15-course menu they only amounted to a “small part” of their offering. They also protested that ants are used in restaurants in other countries, like the U.K., Denmark and Australia, and that diners were given the choice of whether they wanted the bugs to be included in their meal. In South Korea, 10 types of insects are approved for human consumption by law, and ants are not one of them. There are 10 restaurants in South Korea with two Michelin stars, all of which are in the capital.

His wife, Josie Preston, confirmed to Variety that the actor died on June 8 in Florida. No cause of death was disclosed. Born Jack Davis in London, Preston first found fame not as an actor but as a singer, scoring three U.K. Top 40 hits in the late 1950s before relocating to Australia and pivoting to television and film. Americans are more likely than people in any other country to say politics poses the biggest threat to their personal safety, according to a new survey.

The 2026 Lloyd’s Register Foundation World Risk Poll, conducted by Gallup across 140 countries, found that 10 percent of U.S. adults named politics as the greatest risk to their daily safety—up sharply from 6 percent in both 2021 and 2023. By comparison, the global average was just 1 percent.

That puts the U.S. on par with countries like Hungary, where 9 percent named politics as the greatest risk to their daily safety, as well as countries including Serbia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, Myanmar, Spain and Israel, many of which have authoritarian leaders or have seen political violence.

A book filled with damning revelations about Donald Trump’s second term is on track to be the bestselling nonfiction work of 2026, despite the president’s best efforts to undermine it.

The book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, has sold over 500,000 units since its June 23 publication and has topped the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list for three consecutive weeks, Axios reported on Wednesday. The figure includes hardcover, audio, and e-book sales.

The strong sales follow a furious public attack by Trump, 80, who lashed out at Haberman in a post on Truth Social shortly after the book’s release.

A professional model recruiter who arranged for Jeffrey Epstein to meet several young women has been found dead.

The body of Daniel Siad was found in his home in Colombes, a suburb of Paris, on Monday.

His cause of death is unclear. Nanterre Judicial Court deputy public prosecutor Marie-Céline Lawrysz confirmed the 69-year-old’s death to CNN on Wednesday, with an autopsy now due to be carried out.

Trump, 80, enacted a nearly 100-year-old tariff act to hit Canada with 50 percent levies on a plethora of goods, all because our northern neighbors hit the U.S. with retaliatory measures over Trump’s original penalty from March last year.

The mess was described as “senseless” by the Murdoch-family-owned paper’s influential board. “The more Mr. Trump keeps swinging recklessly, the more Americans are likely to think there’s only madness in his tariff methods,” it wrote in an opinion piece on Tuesday.

Three British Airways pilots fell ill with suspected food poisoning after a stopover in India, leaving one “incapacitated” at 30,000 feet. One pilot was put on oxygen during the 10-and-a-half-hour flight from Hyderabad to London Heathrow, while the other two pilots continued operating the aircraft despite becoming unwell. Their symptoms reportedly worsened after the plane landed in the U.K. The crew had shared breakfast in their hotel lounge, and all drank bottled water supplied by an external company. Each pilot filed Air Safety Reports and provided samples for medical testing. According to reports, insiders at the British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) said officials were frustrated because there had been “dozens” of previous complaints about hygiene at their hotel, which costs about $175 a night. British Airways said: “The welfare of our colleagues is a top priority and we are reviewing crew accommodation in this location following some isolated reports of sickness. In line with established procedures, the aircraft continued safely to its destination and landed normally.”

A rogue AI agent just achieved something researchers have long feared: It broke out of its testing environment, reached the internet, and hacked another AI company. OpenAI said Tuesday that one of its autonomous AI agents escaped a tightly controlled environment and compromised the infrastructure of AI startup Hugging Face last week. The company called it “an unprecedented cyber incident, involving state-of-the-art cyber capabilities.” It warned such incidents are “something we expect to become more commonplace with the proliferation of increasingly cyber-capable models.” OpenAI said the autonomous agent exploited vulnerabilities to escape its sandboxed testing environment before infiltrating Hugging Face’s systems. The AI was powered by a combination of OpenAI models, including GPT-5.6 Sol and a more capable pre-release model, with cyber refusals reduced for evaluation purposes. Hugging Face had disclosed last week that it was the target of a hack “driven, end to end, by an autonomous AI agent system.” OpenAI said it was investigating the incident alongside Hugging Face and would release more details when the probe is complete. Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI with Sam Altman and later unsuccessfully sued them, reacted to the incident on X, writing: “Troubling …” Musk now runs rival xAI.

She was just 19.

President Donald Trump has a habit of calling top aides to make policy decisions at all hours of the night—including as late as 2 a.m. and as early as 4 a.m.—according to White House Border Czar Tom Homan.

Appearing on Katie Miller’s podcast, Homan said he speaks with Trump “several times a week.” Miller, the wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, asked him: “What’s the earliest he’s called you in the morning and the latest he’s called you at night?”

“I’ve gotten calls at 2:00 AM. I’ve got calls at 4:00 AM,” Homan said.

Jennifer Aniston will no longer star as Jennette McCurdy’s mother in the Apple TV adaptation of her memoir.

Aniston, 57, was poised to take on the controversial role, detailed in McCurdy’s best-seller, I’m Glad My Mom Died. Apple TV announced the casting choice last July, saying that Aniston would star as McCurdy’s “overbearing, domineering mother,” while also producing the series.

The Friends star is now exiting the show altogether. TMZ first broke the news, with sources telling the outlet that Aniston backed out because of “scheduling conflicts.”

The U.S. has already shattered a grim measles record, with months still left in 2026. The nation has reported 2,295 measles cases this year as of Tuesday, according to Johns Hopkins University’s U.S. measles tracker, surpassing last year’s total of 2,289 and marking the highest annual count since 1991. It’s also the highest annual count since measles was declared eliminated in the country in 2000. “The fact that we’ve reached this total this early in the year is really a reflection of those large outbreaks earlier in the year, particularly in South Carolina and Utah,” William Moss, a professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, told The Washington Post. “It’s very frustrating. This is a reflection that we have been unable to stop measles virus transmission in this country.” Moss said the national tally would likely keep climbing as additional cases are reported. He cautioned against linking the resurgence to political debates over vaccines. The surge comes as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faces scrutiny over comments questioning vaccine safety, a position that contradicts decades of research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The World Health Organization declared measles eliminated in the country in 2000 following successful vaccination efforts. International travel and growing vaccine hesitancy are thought to be behind its resurgence.

Plas Johnson, the Hollywood studio saxophonist whose smooth tenor line gave The Pink Panther its unmistakable swagger, has died at 94. Johnson died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, his children Eric Johnson and Stephanie Oliver confirmed. They said he had performed at his retirement community as recently as a month ago. The Louisiana-born musician built a staggering résumé that stretched from 1950s rock ’n’ roll hits to television themes and sessions with some of the biggest stars in music. Yet one recording towered above the rest: Henry Mancini’s theme for Blake Edwards’ 1963 comedy The Pink Panther, starring Peter Sellers as the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Mancini later wrote that he composed the piece specifically with Johnson in mind, recalling that he had “the sound and the style I wanted.” Johnson remembered the session as unusually electric. “We only did two takes, I think,” he told The Modesto Bee in 2007. “When we finished, everyone applauded, even the string players. And that’s saying something.” Released as a single, the theme became a Top 10 adult contemporary hit and won three Grammy Awards.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller went on a bizarre rant about “communist” Democrats that curiously referenced a number of President Donald Trump’s own actions since returning to office last year.

Fox News host Sean Hannity teed up Miller with his own diatribe about the “radicals ruling the Democratic Party” who supposedly want to abolish the Senate and the presidency—along with private business and private property—while promising a “womb-to-the-tomb utopia that all of us know will never work.”

“Yes,” Miller chuckled, before turning serious. “The Democrat party has embraced not only socialism, they have embraced communism. Straight-up, outright, full-throated communism. They are now electing candidates who want to take private industry over, give it to the government, suspend the Constitution, abolish the Senate, abolish prisons, abolish jails, abolish the jury system, abolish our entire way of life.”

The Amazon founder has joined a consortium of investors ready to buy a stake in the English soccer team Liverpool, a source familiar with the matter has told the Daily Beast.

Bezos, and those around him, are keen on the plan, the source told the Beast, which would involve Bezos and other investors owning 30 percent of Liverpool Football Club. The scheme is still in its early stages, the source said.

The Pentagon has now identified three Army soldiers who were killed in an Iranian strike on a military base in Jordan over the weekend.

Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was killed in action on Friday during an attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was killed in action on Saturday.

Trump, 80, spent last Sunday getting booed by fans at the World Cup final in New Jersey. His walk of shame across the MetLife Stadium saw the ambient crowd noise rise from 78 to 84 decibels once the booing kicked in, roughly the sound of a passing diesel truck.

He then attempted to photobomb Spain as they assembled on the winner’s podium. After presenting a trophy to Spanish captain Rodri, Trump stayed on the stage as the team celebrated their victory, and loitered next to the players.

Talk show icon Oprah Winfrey has revealed the motivation behind her iconic catchphrase “You get a car!” Winfrey, 72, screamed the sentence repeatedly during a 2004 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she gave away 276 cars, worth over $7 million. In a new Vanity Fair interview, Winfrey explained that before she uttered the now-famous phrase, the show had already given out 11 cars to members of the studio audience, who believed only one car remained to be won. At the time, each audience member had been given a gift box which contained a car key. “Everybody was thinking they were gonna be that one person,” Winfrey told Vanity Fair of the belief that only 12 cars were being given away. The host then recalled seeing one audience member finding a key in her box who thought she was the final winner. “And then someone next to her said, `No, I got it. I got it,’” Winfrey said. “So I thought we’re gonna have pandemonium with everybody thinking, `No, I’m the one that got it.’” Winfrey explained she was screaming, “You get a car! You get a car!” while pointing to the audience “because they were screaming so loud. Nobody could hear what I was saying.” She eventually clarified, “Everybody gets a car!” The billionaire then took the audience members outside to see their new 2005 Pontiac G6 sedans wrapped with giant red bows. Winfrey labeled the moment “so fun.”

The leading Democratic candidate to unseat Maine Sen. Susan Collins has a slight edge, a new poll has found.

Troy Jackson, the 58-year-old progressive and former candidate for governor, hasn’t formally acquired his party’s nomination following Graham Platner’s exit, since that will be decided at a state convention on Saturday. But he is on track do so, after his delegates—selected at county meetings last weekend—far outnumber those of others in the race, the New York Times reports.

If Jackson indeed becomes the nominee, he’ll start the general election campaign in a good position.

CNN data expert Harry Enten has handed Donald Trump some humiliating figures about his unpopularity among Canadians.

The 80-year-old president imposed 50-percent tariffs on most Canadian imports on Monday, complaining the country had unfairly discriminated against American automobile, alcohol, and dairy products.

A Trump administration fact sheet claimed that Canada and China were the only nations that had retaliated against the president’s previous tariffs and must be held accountable.
